1. Introduction (from the original 1996 Read Me)

Burn Burn Burn! and Extra Celestial are the first two maps released by me.
One is dark and spooky, the other full of light. Both of them have had a lot of work put into them, as I have been working on them on and off for months, and only recently got net access. Both maps were made on a Quadra 610 with PfhorteFAT_1.0d21, with 1.0d26 used for finishing touches.

If you like them enough, a CD-ROM or PowerMac would be appreciated! (so I can start working on Marathon 2 maps!)

ENJOY!

Thanks to:

Gavin Bennett, for ideas and extensive testing, and for making me fix all the bugs.
Steve Israelson for PfhorteFAT
Anybody else who deserves it.

Extra Celestial was one of my favorite 3rd party maps for Marathon. It doesn't have a plot, it's very linear and when you're through, it drops you back to the beginning. Seems like the formula for a disaster, yet it isn't. Unlike the original author, I'm not going to ask you for a peripheral or a brand new computer, but hey, don't let that stop you from sending me a gift ;-)

3. Changes

Somehow the platform that takes you to the flamethrower (#48) didn't respond to the action key. It's now activated by polygon #152, which is a secret area. In plain english, to reach secret area #2 you must enter secret area #1 first.

The platform leading to the final area (#171) goes down instead of going up, because the original map's total height was beyond 18 world units (28.25 WU from the deepest polygon to the highest, in more precise terms.) I decided to play safely and subtracted 9 WU from every polygon, thus making the deepest polygon -9 WU and the highest 19.25 WU, which still was beyond the limit. Changing platform #171's orientation allowed me to keep everything within Marathon's limits without sacrificing design.
